If you land at Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB), Mears Connect won’t be there: its shared shuttle, from $16 an adult each way in October 2026, serves Walt Disney World and other Disney-area resorts from Orlando International Airport (MCO) only. Mears Connect adds a 6% fuel surcharge to all reservations until further notice, and its own FAQ points Sanford travelers to Mears Transportation’s private car service instead.
So if you’re traveling as a family or a group, your ride from Sanford Airport to Disney World is best booked before you fly, not left to whatever is at the curb. I’ll take the day in order, from the SFB curb and the 40 to 65 minutes on SR 417 to the 3 p.m. check-in gap and the trip back.
How do you get from Sanford Airport to Disney World?
You get from Sanford Airport to Disney World by pre-booked private car, ride-share or rental car, because Mears Connect and Disney’s own buses don’t serve SFB. Here’s how each option from Sanford Airport to Disney World compares, with drive times I measured on Google Maps for a weekday early-afternoon departure in October 2026.
| Option | At SFB? | Drive to the resorts | What you pay |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pre-booked private car | Yes, booked ahead | 40 to 65 min | Luxury Sedan $140; groups quoted |
| Ride-share | Yes, shared pickup zone | 40 to 65 min | App price on the day |
| Rental car | Yes, across the street | 40 to 65 min | Rental plus tolls |
| Mears Connect | No, MCO only | Not available | Not available |
| Disney bus or Minnie Van | No, inside Disney only | Not available | Not available |
What happens between landing and the curb at SFB?
After you collect your bags at Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB), you cross the street to one shared pickup zone, directly across from Baggage Claim areas 1-3, where ride-share cars, taxis and pre-arranged shuttles all meet passengers. That’s what an archived August 2025 copy of the airport’s ground transportation page says, so I’d check flysfb.com again close to your trip.
Rental cars are across the street too, in the Welcome Center, with Alamo, National and Enterprise in a separate building just south of it. If you’re driving yourself, that’s your first stop after baggage claim.
An archived June 2026 copy of the airport’s airline page listed Allegiant, Sun Country (seasonal and/or charter) and Arajet. When you book our Sanford airport car service, I’d send your airline, flight number and scheduled landing time, and let us know right away if the flight changes.
How long is the drive from Sanford to Disney World?
The drive from Sanford Airport to Disney World typically takes 40 to 65 minutes on SR 417, depending on where you’re headed: Disney Springs is 42.8 miles and 40 to 55 minutes, while Disney’s Contemporary Resort is 48.4 miles and 50 minutes to 1 hour 5 minutes. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is 47.9 miles and the same 50 minutes to 1 hour 5 minutes.
I-4 is shorter on paper, 46.0 miles to the Contemporary, but Google’s typical range there runs 55 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes, which is why I’d pick the toll road. SR 417 runs through Seminole, Orange and Osceola counties, and its southern end meets I-4 near Walt Disney World.

There’s still no direct expressway from SR 417 into Orlando Sanford International Airport, so you’ll cover a short stretch of local road before you join it. The Central Florida Expressway Authority is designing one, the 1.6-mile State Road 452/Seminole Connector, and in October 2026 its project page lists design starting in fall 2026 and construction in 2031, so it won’t change your drive for years.
What do the SR 417 tolls mean for your ride?
Every SR 417 toll on your ride from Sanford Airport to Disney World is electronic, so whoever drives needs a transponder or gets the toll bill by mail. The Central Florida Expressway Authority closed its last cash lanes on September 30, 2025, and its cashless tolling page says drivers without a transponder are billed by mail at double the E-PASS rate.
If you rent a car, that means a transponder plan from the rental company or a bill later. Disney’s parking page in October 2026 says Disney Resort hotel guests get free overnight self-parking and included standard theme park parking, while other guests pay $35 a day. So parking won’t decide it for a resort guest, and a rental pays off mainly if you’ll drive off property.
If you book with us, the flat rate includes tolls, car seats and boosters, so your fare from Sanford Airport to Disney World is the number you were quoted. Gratuity is the one extra, and we can add it to the quote if you ask. Disney’s own Minnie Van page says child seats are required for children under 6, which is a sound rule for any car you book from SFB, so tell us the ages when you book.
What happens when you reach your Disney resort before check-in?
When you reach your Disney resort before check-in, you can use the pool and other resort areas while your room gets ready. Check-in is 3 p.m. at Disney Resort hotels and 4 p.m. at Disney Deluxe Villas, so you’ll likely beat it if you land in the morning or around midday. Disney’s direct-to-room page says Online Check-In sends a notification in the My Disney Experience app when your room is ready, and the app then gives you the room number and unlocks the door.
That early access works through the app’s Unlock Door feature or an active MagicBand, and Disney says a dining plan can be used before your room is ready, too. I’d pack swimsuits in a carry-on, so a late-morning ride from Sanford Airport to Disney World ends at the pool instead of the lobby.
Staying at a Disney Resort hotel also gets you 30 minutes of early theme park entry at all four Walt Disney World theme parks, a perk Disney says continues through 2027, and you can buy Lightning Lane passes up to 7 days before your stay. Plan your first park morning around that early entry, not around the drive, and if Disney Springs is on your list, our guide to getting from Disney Springs to the theme parks covers that trip.
How do you get back to Sanford on departure day?
You get back to Sanford the same way you came, because Disney’s resort buses and Minnie Vans only run inside Walt Disney World and neither goes to an airport. Disney check-out is 11 a.m., and Bell Services will hold your bags if your flight leaves later.
The drive back is the route from Sanford Airport to Disney World in reverse, and I’d treat the 40 to 65 minutes Google Maps gave for the southbound trip on SR 417 as a guide, not a promise. Count back from your flight time to set the pickup, allowing for that drive plus your airline’s check-in and security time at Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB). For a later flight, a morning in the parks with bags at Bell Services works well, and I’d check your flight on flysfb.com before you leave.

If you’re still choosing between the two airports, our comparison of MCO and Sanford weighs flights, distance and cost.
How would a family of 10 plan a Sanford arrival?
Picture the Mahajan family planning a Sanford arrival for 10 people across three generations: they’d book one vehicle before they fly, with room for everyone and the bags. They’re flying Allegiant into Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB) for five nights at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, and they expect a Disney shuttle until they learn that Mears Connect only serves MCO. So they ask us to plan their ride from Sanford Airport to Disney World, and we start with the vehicle.
We’d quote a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, which seats up to 14, at a flat rate before they fly, with car seats for the two youngest included. After a late-morning landing, their chauffeur meets them on arrival, and Google Maps puts the 47.9-mile drive to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge at 50 minutes to 1 hour 5 minutes on a weekday early afternoon. That gets them to the resort before the 3 p.m. check-in.
While they wait for the room-ready alert, the kids can be in the pool. On departure day, Bell Services can hold the bags through a last morning in the parks, and a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter takes the family back up SR 417 for their flight. Our Disney car service handles that return the same way.

Which vehicle suits your Sanford to Disney ride?
Size the vehicle to your group, your bags and any car seats, because a vehicle rated for 14 passengers holds 14 people, not 14 people plus 14 suitcases. On this route the Luxury Sedan has a published fare; every other vehicle is quoted flat before you fly, tolls included.
Luxury Sedan seats up to 3, at $140 one way or $260 round trip. Best for a couple with checked bags.
Luxury SUV seats up to 6, quoted on request. Best for a family of four or five.
Jet Sprinter seats up to 8, quoted on request. Best for a group of 8 who want captain’s chairs and a privacy partition instead of rows.
Mercedes-Benz Sprinter seats up to 14, quoted on request. Best for big multi-generation groups with strollers.
