EPCOT is the one Orlando park where the time of year changes the visit as much as the day of the week does. Four festivals run across the calendar, and the International Food and Wine Festival in particular turns World Showcase into a crowd that arrives early and leaves late. A private car handles both ends of that: you are dropped at the entrance rather than parking and taking a tram, and the pickup is arranged rather than negotiated at eleven at night with several thousand other people. The other thing worth knowing is that EPCOT has two entrances, and a good number of visitors want the International Gateway at the back rather than the main gate at the front. How much is a car to EPCOT?
Flat rates, quoted per vehicle rather than per person. Here is one of the most common EPCOT runs, shown one way and as a return.
Insider note
On a Food and Wine Festival evening, set the pickup for after the crowd rather than with it. The half hour immediately following the nighttime show is the single worst time to be leaving EPCOT by any means. Book the car for thirty or forty minutes later, enjoy World Showcase while it empties, and you will be home sooner than the people who left first.
What does a car actually save you at EPCOT?
Mostly the two ends of the day, which at this park are worse than the middle.
No car park, no tram
You are set down at the entrance. EPCOT's car park is large and the tram ride is time you have paid for in park tickets.
Food and Wine changes the maths
If your group is tasting its way around World Showcase, nobody wants to be the designated driver. This is the most common reason people book a car to EPCOT.
Either entrance, your choice
The main gate or the International Gateway at the back. Most drivers default to the front; we use whichever one suits your day.

A booked pickup at a set time and place beats joining several thousand people trying to leave at once after the nighttime show.
Room for what you buy
World Showcase is a shopping park as much as a riding one. An SUV or van means the purchases are not a problem.
A long park on foot
EPCOT is the biggest walk of the Disney parks. Arriving without having already crossed a car park matters more here than elsewhere.
Which EPCOT festival is on when you visit?
EPCOT runs a festival almost year-round, and which one is on changes the crowd, the closing time and how hard it is to leave. Dates shift a little each year, so treat these as the shape of the year rather than a timetable.

What festival season changes about transport
- The evening exit gets much worse. On a Food and Wine weekend the period straight after the nighttime show is the hardest time to leave any Orlando park
- Groups get bigger. Festival visits are social, so parties that would normally take a sedan want an SUV or a van
- Nobody wants to drive. The tasting is the point, which is the single most common reason our EPCOT bookings exist
- Vehicles get scarce at weekends. Festival Saturdays book up across the city, not just with us
Outside festival season
There is barely a gap in the calendar these days, but the quiet windows do exist, usually in early January and parts of the late spring. Those are the easiest days to visit EPCOT and the easiest to arrange a car at short notice.

Which EPCOT entrance should you be dropped at?
EPCOT is unusual in having two, and using the wrong one can add a long walk to the start of your day.
- The main entrance - At the front of the park near Spaceship Earth, and the one almost every driver assumes you want. It puts you into World Celebration and the newer areas first, which is right if you are heading for the rides in World Discovery and World Nature.
- The International Gateway - At the back of the park between the United Kingdom and France pavilions. It drops you directly into World Showcase, which is where you want to be for any of the festivals, for a dining reservation in one of the pavilions, or if your day is mostly food and shopping rather than rides.
- How to choose - If the reason you are going to EPCOT involves eating, drinking or a festival booth, ask for the International Gateway. If it involves a ride or you have a park-opening reservation at the front, take the main entrance. Say which when you book and the chauffeur takes the right approach road, because they are not close together.
- One caveat - Access arrangements at the International Gateway can change during major events and refurbishment. We check on the day rather than assuming, and if it is not usable we will tell you before you set off rather than at the kerb.
A private car to EPCOT is best for:
- Festival visits - anyone at the Food and Wine Festival who intends to actually taste things
- Groups - arriving together rather than in two cars
- Off-property families - staying in Kissimmee, ChampionsGate or the vacation-home corridors
- Evening visits - where the exit is the difficult part
- World Showcase dinners - reservations best reached through the International Gateway
- Walk minimisers - skipping the car park and tram before the longest walk in Disney World

Leave after the crowd, not with it
The thirty minutes following the nighttime show is the worst window of the day. Booking the pickup slightly later gets you home sooner.
Say which entrance when you book
Main gate and International Gateway are on opposite sides of a very large park. Getting this wrong costs you a walk before you have started.
Food and Wine weekends book out
Vehicle availability across Orlando tightens on festival Saturdays. A week's notice is comfortable; the morning of is not.
EPCOT is the longest walk
World Showcase alone is over a mile around. Arriving already tired from a car park is a genuine factor here in a way it is not at the smaller parks.
Size up for the shopping
People buy more at EPCOT than at the other parks, especially during festivals. A sedan that fitted you on the way in can be tight on the way out.
Closing times move with the season
EPCOT stays open later during festivals and holidays. Check the day's hours before setting a pickup time rather than assuming last year's.
