Transportation to Universal's Islands of Adventure

Islands of Adventure does not have a front door of its own. You arrive at Universal, walk through CityWalk, and the two parks split at the end of it. Here is how that works and what to allow for.

The quick answer

Universal's Islands of Adventure shares its arrival area with Universal Studios Florida. There is no separate drop-off for one park or the other: every vehicle sets down at the same Universal Orlando arrival point, and from there you walk through Universal CityWalk to a security checkpoint, after which the path splits and Islands of Adventure is to one side and Universal Studios Florida to the other. It is a genuine walk rather than a few steps, which matters if you are aiming for park opening or traveling with small children. The other thing worth settling before you go is your ticket: riding the Hogwarts Express between Hogsmeade here and Diagon Alley at the neighbouring park requires park-to-park admission. Call or text 689-407-2496.

Insider note

Sort out the ticket question before you travel, not at the gate. If any part of your plan involves riding the Hogwarts Express, or seeing both halves of the Wizarding World, you need park-to-park admission rather than a single-park ticket. It is the most common and most expensive thing people discover too late here, and it is entirely avoidable.

Why a private car

What does a car save you at Universal?

Mainly the parking structure, which is a longer part of the day than most visitors expect.

Skip the garage entirely

Driving yourself means a large multi-storey structure, a fee, and a walk through it before you even reach CityWalk. A car drops you past all of that.

The walk is already long enough

Even from the drop-off there is CityWalk and a security checkpoint ahead of you. Not adding the garage to that is worth real minutes on a rope-drop morning.

CityWalk runs late

The parks close but CityWalk does not, so the evening crowd lingers. A booked pickup is easier than finding a car in that.

Butterbeer and the drive home

The Wizarding World has a licensed side to it, and CityWalk very much does. Somebody has to not drive.

Lockers, ponchos and shopping

The water rides in Toon Lagoon soak people properly, and Hogsmeade sells a great deal. An SUV or van absorbs both problems.

Two parks in one day

If you are doing both, the day is long. Removing the drive at either end is the easiest thing to take off it.

How the arrival works

Where does a car actually drop you for Islands of Adventure?

At the shared Universal Orlando arrival area, which serves both parks. There is no separate Islands of Adventure entrance to be driven to.

1

Set down at the Universal arrival area

The same point serves Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida. Your chauffeur uses the drop-off rather than the parking structure, so you skip the garage and the fee entirely.

2

Walk through Universal CityWalk

The dining and entertainment area sits between the arrival point and both parks. It is a proper walk, not a few steps, and it is the same for everybody however they arrived.

3

Security, then the split

There is a checkpoint at the end of CityWalk. Past it the path divides: Islands of Adventure one way, Universal Studios Florida the other.

4

Reverse it, later than you think

CityWalk keeps going after the parks close, so the walk back is through a busy area. A pre-booked pickup at a set time removes the guesswork.

The ticket question, settled before you go

Islands of Adventure holds the Hogsmeade half of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Diagon Alley is at Universal Studios Florida next door. The Hogwarts Express runs between them and is an attraction in its own right, but riding it means leaving one park and entering the other, which requires park-to-park admission. A single-park ticket will not do it in either direction.

What that means practically

  • Only interested in Hogsmeade? A single-park ticket for Islands of Adventure is fine
  • Want both halves of the Wizarding World? You need park-to-park, and it is worth deciding before you buy
  • Doing both parks anyway? Then the train becomes a convenience as well as an attraction
  • Universal Epic Universe is a separate park again with its own arrangements. It has its own page

What is in there

What is Islands of Adventure actually like?

The more ride-heavy of the two original Universal parks, and the wetter one.

  • The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Hogsmeade - The reason a great many people come. Hogsmeade village, Hogwarts castle and the ride inside it, plus the Hogwarts Express platform for anyone with park-to-park admission.
  • Jurassic Park and Skull Island - The island themed around dinosaurs, including a water ride and the Kong attraction. This is where the park feels biggest.
  • Marvel Super Hero Island - The thrill cluster, with the park's most intense coasters. Worth knowing about if your group splits between thrill-seekers and everybody else.
  • Toon Lagoon - Two water rides that genuinely soak you rather than sprinkle you. Plan clothing accordingly, and consider what you leave in the vehicle.
  • Seuss Landing and The Lost Continent - The gentler end of the park, and where families with young children spend most of their time.

A private car to Islands of Adventure is best for:

  • International Drive stays - anyone who would rather not deal with the parking structure
  • Young families - the CityWalk walk is already the limit
  • Two-park days - both Universal parks in one long day
  • CityWalk evenings - nights that carry on after the parks close
  • Butterbeer and beyond - anyone who plans to drink at the Wizarding World or CityWalk
  • Off-property visitors - staying in Kissimmee or the vacation-home corridors

Local knowledge

What should you know before an Islands of Adventure day?

Specific to this park and its shared entrance.

Park-to-park is the big one

The Hogwarts Express needs it. Decide before you buy tickets, because upgrading on the day is the expensive way to fix it.

Allow for the CityWalk walk

Even dropped at the arrival area you have CityWalk and security ahead. For park opening, that is time you have to build in.

Toon Lagoon really soaks you

Not a light spray. A change of clothes left in the vehicle saves an otherwise soggy afternoon.

Early Park Admission moves the morning

Universal hotel guests can get in ahead of published opening. Arrangements change, so check yours and tell us, and we will time the pickup to the real gate time.

Hogsmeade sells a lot

People leave with more than they arrived with. If you are between a sedan and an SUV, the shopping usually decides it.

The evening does not end at closing

CityWalk keeps running after the parks shut, so book the return for when you actually plan to leave rather than for park closing time.

Popular Areas & Destinations We Serve

From top attractions to major transit hubs, Orlux gets you where you want to go. Whether it’s shopping in Kissimmee, marine adventures at SeaWorld, or catching a flight at the airport, our clean cars and courteous drivers are ready when you are.

Simple booking

How do you book a car to Islands of Adventure?

Three steps, and we will flag the ticket question before you go.

1

Tell us the day and the party

Where you are staying, the date, how many of you, and whether you are doing one park or both. Call or text 689-407-2496 or use the form.

2

We quote it flat

One fixed figure per vehicle, confirmed in writing, with the drop-off point and the walk explained so the morning holds together.

3

Dropped past the garage

Set down at the Universal arrival area rather than the parking structure, and collected there at a time you set in advance.
